“It can scarcely be denied that the fundamental phenomena which first led mankind into chemical inquiries are those of combustion.”

William Crookes.

Combustion

Some Basics of Engineering Combustion

This book is based on  An Introduction to Combustion Engineering – D.S-K. Ting published in 2011 by NAOMI TING’S BOOKS.  No part of this publication may be reproduced or transmitted in any form or by any means without written permission from © 2012 Naomi Ting’s Books.

Dedication

Some experts are born gifted, others realize their dreams via extreme perseverance and excessive efforts. This book is dedicated to the enduring dreamers.

Preface

This book is primarily intended for introducing combustion to senior undergraduate and junior graduate students in mechanical and chemical engineering.  Some undergraduate knowledge of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics is required to appreciate the material covered.

Turbulence

Some Basics of Engineering Flow Turbulence

Dedication

The meaning of an endeavor is found in the process, more so than the final outcome.  This book is dedicated to those who attempt to make the best out of every day.

‘Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present.’ – Bill Keane.

Preface

This book is intended for those who have an interest in flowing fluids.  It aims at providing some background, though of limited scope, on everyday flow turbulence, especially that encountered in engineering applications.  Some undergraduate knowledge of fluid mechanics and statistics is needed to better appreciate the material covered.

Acknowledgements

If it is not because of the many co-runners, this book would have been just an anxious dream of starting a marathon without the stamina to cross the finish line.  The author is particularly grateful to the strength from above, and the following individuals in easing the enduring endeavor, giving him the needed fuel to finally cross the finish line.
